It looks great when dry and even better when making it perfect for the usually wet climate here in the UK! Granite requires no maintenance and is a great replacement for gravel or other aggregate.
Whilst having a similar appearance, red gravel lacks the durability and quality that lanark red Granite has. Gravel is often used as a way to imitate the look of granite but you will find the quality will start to decline over time. The amount of granite or gravel aggregate that you will need depends entirely on the size and depth of the area being worked on. The Gravel Calculator on the right-hand side will provide you with an accurate costing for your project so that you know exactly how much it will cost allowing you to plan and budget accordingly.
Is it possible to use the gravel calculator for all aggregates?
With our gravel calculator, you can calculate the right amount of gravel and granite for your project. Simply select the product and enter the dimensions of the area you are planning to cover, you will then be provided with an accurate quotation for the right amount of gravel/granite for your project.
What is the right amount of gravel for my driveway?
By using our gravel calculator, it’s easy to find the correct amount of granite or gravel you need for your driveway. It is merely a matter of knowing how long and wide the driveway needs to be, along with what depth of gravel is needed.
As a general rule of thumb, uncompacted Cloburn granite weighs approximately 1.4 tonnes per cubic meter. A driveway should be at least 50mm deep, so one ton would cover approximately 14 square meters.
